LeVar Gary enjoyed a uniquely successful scholar-athlete experience during his four years at Simsbury High School. Born and raised in Hartford, CT, LeVar became part of the Simsbury school system in kindergarten through the Project Concern program founded in 1966. While at Simsbury High, LeVar excelled tremendously in both football and track and field. His accomplishments in these sports are still recognized today by many. In his senior year, LeVar was named All-State Defensive Back and Defensive Back of the year in football. Additionally, he held the record for the most receiving yards in a career at Simsbury High School. In track and field, LeVar was All Conference in 1997, and subsequently set multiple records in 1998 for the 55m, 100m, and 200m dash. LeVar not only set these records but held them for 24 years. Post Simsbury high school, LeVar’s accolades continued as he enjoyed a successful career in Football and Track and Field at Nichols College. While at Nichols, LeVar was a four-year starting defensive back and return specialist. He was named both the NEFC Defensive Rookie of the Year, as well as the Most Outstanding Male Freshman Athlete of the Year. LeVar earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2000 at both defensive back and return specialist. In Track and Field, LeVar held the record in 1998 for the 100m Dash and the 4 X 100m relay team. As a capstone to an illustrious collegiate career, LeVar was inducted into the Nichols College Athletic Hall of Fame. In 2002, LeVar had the privilege of playing semi-professional ball as a defensive back and return specialist for the CT Giants. LeVar Gary currently resides in Weatogue, CT. He is the proud father of three children. Leila, (also a graduate of Simsbury High), McKayla, and Jackson. In his spare time, LeVar serves as a football official with CCAFO. He also is a dedicated coach for his son Jackson’s football team
