Selection Process for the Simsbury High School Hall of Fame 

Eligibility for Nomination:

Recipients are eligible for nomination 10 years after their class’s graduation or 5 years after their coaching, administrative, or supportive roles. Such recipients must have competed in a school-sanctioned varsity sport and must have excelled in such sport. Among the accomplishments taken into account will be individual (all-Conference, all- State, as well as, all other significant individual accomplishments) and team accomplishments, individual school or team records and impact on teams and the overall athletic program at Simsbury High School during their era and accomplishments thereafter. Recipients must have graduated from Simsbury High School and be in good standing or special circumstances as determined by the Board of Directors.

Nomination is also open to coaches/administrators or teams, who must have participated with distinction and/or made significant contributions to athletics at Simsbury High School, as evidenced, for example, by the success of their teams and the acknowledgment of their former student-athletes. Such coaches/administrators or teams shall be eligible for nomination beginning five years after they have left Simsbury High School for any reason, or in special circumstances as determined by the Board Members.

As determined by the Board Members, community contributors will also be considered for nomination based upon their service and dedication to the athletic programs at Simsbury High School.

The number of inductees per year will include up to four athletes, one coach, one team and one contributor. For the first several years, the Board reserves the right to induct multiple members of each category in order to make current the members of the Hall of Fame.

Nomination Process:

A candidate may be nominated for Hall of Fame membership by any member of the community. Formal nomination shall be made using the nomination form prescribed for such purpose and made available to the public through the Hall of Fame website. The nomination form must be received by the sport representative and turned into the athletic department, no later than, March 1st of the nominating year. Application packets will be available online to any community member wishing to make a nomination and should be turned into the sport representative. A list of contact information for all sport representatives will be available online. All applications are to remain confidential, to be shared among the members of the Board only. Information relating to a nominee's career statistics, records, achievements, etc. must be supported by accompanying documentation or sources cited so that the information may be verified independently. All nominations must be received by the athletic department by March 1st of the nominating year, in order to be considered for induction into the fall class. The nomination form will be available through the web site.

Once presented as an eligible nominee, a candidate who is not elected shall automatically be reconsidered annually until he/she has been considered consecutively for five years. Thereafter, re-nomination may occur at any time. The Chairman will notify any nominator and their nominee in writing if not selected.
