Meghan Callahan Pugliese was a consistent star distance runner for Simsbury High School in the 1990s. She raised the bar for Simsbury girls distance running and was the top finisher for the Trojans in every cross-country race she competed in through her four years. Meghan started her freshman season beating some of the top girls in the state and remained a top competitor every year. She earned All-State all four years and earned All-New England as a freshman and senior. She finished her senior cross-country season with a very strong All-New England performance. In track, Meghan was also a consistent high point scorer on the top performing Simsbury team. She was the top 3200m finisher for the Trojans in every race. She contributed to the first ever Girls Track State Championship for Simsbury in 1995 scoring in the 1600m, as runner-up in the 3200m, and as a member of the championship 4x800m relay team. Her strongest individual event was the 3200m and she was also a state-level competitor in the 1600m. She was a member of the highly decorated 4x800m relay team all four years. Meghan earned All-State honors all four years and capped off her high school running career with an All-New England finish in the 4x800m on her graduation day.
Meghan competed for Duquesne University in the Atlantic 10 Conference in cross country and track. She studied Sports Marketing and went on to earn her MBA. She moved back to CT to work for her father alongside her sisters at their local family manufacturing business. Her running career at Simsbury High School is of huge importance to her and she looks back on those glory days with pride and joy. Meghan lives in Simsbury with her husband Ryan, and their four children Henry, Isaac, Rory, and Ruby.
