Aaron Pumerantz is one of the most decorated three-sport athletes in Simsbury High School history. As a sophomore he placed third in the Class LL Wrestling State Championships. His junior year was prolific. He was named an All-Conference athlete as a running back, defensive back, punter, kicker, wrestler, and outfielder. He was also named to the All-State football team as a running back and kicker and he placed second in the Class L Wrestling Championship and sixth in the Connecticut Wrestling State Open. Aaron was a key athlete on the wrestling (Class L) and baseball (Class LL) teams who won State Titles that year. During his senior year he captained the football, wrestling, and baseball teams and he once again was named an All-Conference athlete as a running back, defensive back, punter, kicker, wrestler, and outfielder. He, again, was named to the All-State football team as a running back and kicker and his senior year he won the Class L Wrestling Championship and placed third in the Connecticut Wrestling State Open. Aaron is the only football player in SHS history to place All-Conference in four positions, two years in a row. Aaron holds the SHS records for most total career points (429), single season points, and single game rushing yards (268). In total Aaron was named All-Conference twelve times, All-State five times, and he placed in All-State Wrestling Championships four other times. Aaron epitomized the role of scholar-athlete and he went on to Dartmouth College where he played tailback. After college, he became a physician and served with distinction for over a decade in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged at the rank of major, earning multiple accolades throughout his career. Aaron is a rheumatologist who lives in Sylvania, Ohio with his wife Christa and their children Gracyn and Grant.
